As a member of the chamber, you will definitely see a return in your membership. Members of the chamber are given many opportunities to put their name out into the community and make their business visible to the community. Listed below are the ways to benefit from becoming a member of the Chesterton/Duneland Chamber of Commerce.

Advertising and Publicity

Members receive free publicity via the Chamber's weekly "Chamber Express" highlighting your special events, press releases, and committee involvement. Discounted Chesterton Tribune advertising is on the Thursday Chamber page. Members receive a free listing in the annual business directory. Members can advertise in Duneland Today, the Chamber's quarterly magazine, with a distribution of 12,000 copies. Free web site listing; banner advertising is available for a nominal fee on the Chamber's Internet web page. Members also have the opportunity to display promotional materials at the monthly meetings and may utilize the Highway 49 sign for special advertising messages for only $40 per week.

Business Referrals

Every year we receive hundreds of requests for names of local businesses, professionals and services. Only Chamber members are referred. Business acquaintances are always anxious to do business in their own community. Consumers are 44% more likely to think favorably about a Chamber member business than a business which is not a Chamber member. Fifty-seven percent are more likely to think positive of its local reputation and 63% are more likely to shop with that business in the future. The Chamber offers a vast selection of publications to promote and assist business development in the Duneland area. Included are demographics on populations, housing, an area map and information guides. All publications are available at the Chamber office.

Business Education

Throughout the year the Chamber offers programs of business education such as small business enhancement and community topics of interest for all members.

Business and Governmental Contacts

Through participation in Chamber events and activities, you meet decision makers, make invaluable business contacts and become part of the Duneland business network. And if you are looking for governmental clout, we can provide contacts with local, state and federal officials.

Quarterly Magazine Opportunity

Our quarterly magazine, Duneland Today is mailed to every household and business in the areas served by the Chamber: Beverly Shores, Burns Harbor, Chesterton, Dune Acres and Porter. It is also mailed to all Chamber members outside of zip code 46304. Twelve thousand (12,000) copies will be distributed quarterly. One thousand (1,000) copies will be available in key businesses and public areas throughout the Chamber service area. Each issue will contain editorial content featuring member businesses, articles of interest to area residents, and information on new members and member anniversaries. The publication will also be included in the Welcome bags.

Residential Welcome Bags

This is a great way to introduce yourself to new residents by offering items such as calendars, pens, magnets, notepads etc. that we deliver to new residents of the community. Please notify the Chamber if you wish to participate in our "Welcome to Duneland" program.

Networking

Where else can you be cordially invited to meet with the community business leaders on a regular basis? The Chamber membership sponsors Business After Hours on the second Wednesday of each month at various members place of business. This is a great opportunity to meet decision makers from the Duneland community. Chamber Network Night held the fourth Thursday in October provides a business to business trade show opportunity to network with over 150 business professionals throughout the County. With More than 800 guests visiting the show - "If you're a business in Porter County, this is where you need to be!"

New Member Business Promotion

As a new member, you will be greeted by Chamber Ambassadors who will make you feel welcomed at Chamber events and will also help you plan and participate in a ribbon cutting/grand opening ceremony. Your photo and an article will appear in the quarterly news magazine to introduce you and your business to the rest of the membership.

Mailing lists are available for any of your marketing needs. In addition to our membership lists, we can sort our data base by company, city, and zip code. We offer mailing labels only to our members free the first time requested and additional requests are available for a minimal fee.
