Children's Pysanky Egg Class at the Chesterton Art Center

 

Mary Acton will be teaching a Kids Pysanky Egg Class at the Chesterton Art Center on Saturday, May 23 from 9-12. Children ages 10 and up are welcome to participate. Chesterton United Methodist Church Mission Team will be hosting an All-You-Can-Eat Spaghetti Dinner on Friday, May 29 from 4:30-6:30 PM. The cost is $5 per person. Children 5 and under are free! Proceeds benefit "Royal Family Kids' Camp." This is an organization that provides one week of camp in the summer to children ages 7 to 12 that have been removed from their homes and placed in foster care due to abuse. New Orientation Session for Volunters!

Reins of Life Inc. will be holding a new orientation session for class volunteers on Wednesday, June 3rd from 5:30 to 8:30 pm CST at their Michigan City facility. We provide therapeutic horseback riding lessons for children and adults with disabilities, serving over 500 riders between two facilities in northwest Indiana. Reins is looking for volunteers to help assist our riders during riding lessons. Pre-registration is preferred and volunteers must be at least 13 years old. No previous horse experience is required.  Come and have some fun while helping those who need us most! New Pre-Kindergarten Program

 

New half-day pre-kindergarten programming is available for children entering kindergarten in the fall of 2016 or children who are four by August 1, 2015. At their Early Childhood Development facility, set to start September 1, 2015 and run through May 27, 2016. It's designed for children entering kindergarten in fall 2016 or children who will miss the cutoff date for entrance into kindergarten, and are ready for a more academic class environment. Children will engage in language arts, handwriting, math concepts, science & technology (STEM), social awareness (social studies/geography), music, visual arts, self-expression, and large/small muscle development. Now is the time to nominate someone to carry the Indiana Bicentennial torch when it passes through Porter County on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016. Porter County's Bicentennial Committee is seeking torchbearer nominations. People can nominate anyone who achieved personal or professional excellence, has done public service or volunteering, or had an act of heroism.
