Not for Profit Spotlight: PCACS
Porter County Aging & Community Services (PCACS) provides for the basic needs of senior, disabled and low-income residents of Porter County.
• Community Workshop Program: PCACS hosts several free monthly presentations.
• Energy Assistance: PCACS provides financial assistance for winter heating and summer cooling expenses.
• Ramp Program: PCACS builds handicap accessible ramps for local seniors and the disabled.
• Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP): This program connects seniors 55 and older with volunteer opportunities.
• Section 8 Housing: This program helps low-income families obtain adequate housing.
• Senior Nutrition: PCACS serves as the Congregate Meals Site Manager for the Porter Count Senior Centers.
• SHIP (State Health Insurance Assistance Program): Through this program, well trained counselors provide free Medicare counseling.
• Transportation: PCACS offers a door-to-door transportation service Monday thru Friday 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for $1/ride or $2/round trip. The disabled ride FREE.
